Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella took to Instagram yesterday to address the electronic dance music community’s impatience regarding Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas’ 2014 lineup.
Speaking to his philosophy behind waiting to drop the lineup announcement, Rotella revisits his influences in the rave scene from the early 90’s.
When I was first exploring dance culture, we didn’t have all the genres we do now […] one thing has never changed: A good time is what you make of it.
A central theme that he consistently touches on throughout his declaration is that the community and the experience is what truly makes the event unlike any other in existence. Although the lineup features the best EDM performances that there are, Rotella reminds us that regardless of who is performing, we are solely responsible for our individual happiness while at EDC Las Vegas and that the music is just a beneficial supplement that narrates our moments. Rotella continues,
Just because dance music has broken through to the mainstream doesn’t mean we need to play by those rules or subscribe to that way of thinking […] It’s all about the collective energy and positive vibes that come from the overall experience.
Rotella finished by offering a nice little hint that the lineup is going to officially drop May 27, just under a month before the event.
EDC Las Vegas has no problem selling out
Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas managed to sell out over 400,000 tickets more than 2 months in advance without a single artist being revealed. This definitely speaks to the resounding impact the event has on the electronic dance music community.
