The Ibiza Council struck its latest blow against the White Isle’s dance music culture with the newly adopted restrictions for clubs, music bars, and venues.

President of the Island Council, Vicent Torres, announced the new decision stating that there will be a 6:30 a.m. closing curfew for the biggest clubs and venues like Pacha, Amnesia, Space, DC10, and Sankeys starting next summer.

Smaller music bars will have to submit to a 5:00 a.m. curfew, and beach clubs will have a 12:00 a.m. music cutoff but will be allowed to remain open until 3:00 a.m.

Does this signal the end of the sunrise set for the world-famous Balearic island?

Although promoters already routinely run over their time restrictions, it appears that the current nonchalance may be forced to change as officials have announced that they “will impose sanctions that are commensurate with the offence committed, especially repeat offenders.”

Only time will tell what will unfold, but as the regulations continue to pile up, this may be the latest in a chain of events signaling a paradigm shift in the island’s storied dance culture.
