Electric Zoo Announces Ticket Sales, Tightens Up Security in 2014

After facing scrutiny for two drug related deaths last year, Electric Zoo has announced that it will enforce tighter security measures in 2014. Originally reported by the Wall Street Journal, festival promoters have announced that the festival grounds will be patrolled by drug-detecting dogs, thorough and extensive pat-down procedures, and undercover agents with extensive experience in drug investigations.

Concerns have led to increased spending in order to assure the safety of all festival-goers. Festival promoters Mike Bindra and Laura DePalma have sold their operation to ID&T, the same company that puts on TomorrowWorld and Mysteryland. This acquisition now gives the festival access to leading medical care and numerous other resources.

We are incredibly excited to bring Electric Zoo back to New York. Over the past five years, Electric Zoo has grown tremendously, becoming a critically acclaimed, internationally recognized music festival. The opportunity to again host Electric Zoo on Randall’s Island is a responsibility we take seriously, and we look forward to expanding our safety and security measures in order to further improve the concert experience for our fans.

Though promoters have yet to secure a permit for this year, they have announced that they plan to hold the festival over Memorial Day weekend as usual.

Tickets for the sixth edition will go on sale Tuesday, April 29.
