Annointed as “the future of trance [music]” by Armin van Buuren, the reigning king himself, Moldova’s Andrew Rayel is often referred to as a modern-day Mozart. To be only 21-years of age and thrust upon the world stage as the future heir to the electronic dance music (EDM) genre known as trance would be overwhelming to even the most ambitious performer, but Andrew Rayel is single-minded in his work ethic and undaunted by the challenge.
With formal training in classical music and an understanding of melody and counterpoint unusual for most DJ/producers, Rayel uses the latest in music-making technology to meld the emotional with the state-of-the-art in his original productions.
On May 30th, Andrew Rayel releases his first full-length artist album, Find Your Harmony (Armada Music).
The album is a work-of-art that begs listening in its glorious entirety. Rarely are electronic music LPs crammed with so much talent in a single offering. Find Your Harmony is loaded with a sonic fury and orchestral passion too often missing in EDM today.
Find Your Harmony is an album constructed like only a seasoned DJ could, with Rayel seemingly working a crowd with his skillfully timed builds and climaxes of unbridled acoustic joy. Upon first play of Find Your Harmony, even the most jaded dance music lover will be swinging from the rafters with music-induced glee.
Perhaps the only thing more impressive than the tracks themselves is the fact that one young producer created them all.
Surely, listeners must wonder whether Rayel’s intuitive feel for the dance floor comes from somewhere outside of himself. The hand of Rayel’s mentor, Armin van Buuren, shows itself on the collaboration, “EIFORYA” (pronounced “euphoria”), a big-room peak-time track poised for lift-off.
The brightest vocalists in trance music also lend their golden voices to Find Your Harmony, including: Christian Burns, Jonathan Mendelsohn, Cindy Alma, Alexandra Badoi, Sylvia Tosun,Lira Yin, Jano and Jwaydan. With this album, Andrew Rayel not only realizes the talent that’s always lived inside him; he forever carves out a place in trance music history.
