SSBD’s ethos is rooted in creating connection —creating moments that feel intentional, immersive, and refreshingly intimate. With attendance capped at 7,500 SSBD offers a radically different alternative to the mega-festival experience.

In addition to the music, SSBD offers a plethora of daily activations designed to connect, recharge, and inspire. Wellness experiences range from yoga sessions with Amplified Yoga founder Donovan McGrath to breathwork, movement classes, a community 5K, and sound healing. Fans can experience beachside Floatopia parties, get wild at Grandma’s House Party, tie the knot at the festival’s pop-up Wedding Chapel, or take a private island excursion to Nakey Island (collaboration with Almost Nakey) for daytime parties, surprise DJ sets, and more.

“Festivals should be more than just stages and lights—they should spark something inside you. They should give you space to let go, to laugh, to dance like a kid again, and to remember what it feels like to be fully present. This year, we leaned all the way into that vision and we’ve curated moments that awaken the senses and reconnect us to ourselves—and to each other.” — Brad Sweet, Co-Founder, SSBD

2025 has been a year of innovation for this small but mighty festival. SSBD took a bold move toward accessibility and collaboration through two first-of-their-kind offerings: the IndepenDANCE Pass and the Wonderfully Different Pass.

The former, recognized by Billboard, launched in partnership with Desert Hearts, Joshua Tree Music Festival, and Northern Nights, gives fans access to four independent California festivals for just $599. The latter, created in collaboration with Wonderfront Festival, bridged two of San Diego’s biggest homegrown events with one shared pass—celebrating unity in a time when most festivals are forced to compete for attention.

SSBD also deepened its roots in LA by teaming up with A Hundred Drums’ iconic B-Side LA event series to co-produce their 10th anniversary event – celebrating underground culture and also offering rising artists a chance to play at both B-Side & SSBD through the DJ Battle competition.

Together, these two independent crews are coming together to highlight the power of local scenes and to amplify California’s vibrant, homegrown dance music culture. The event will feature a stacked lineup of heavy-hitters and emerging talent, including Thought ProcessParkbreezyPheel, as well as B-Side day ones Anabadi, and Chemistry MC on the mic all night.

Additionally, it will feature live art, vendors, synchronistic sound, and the return of the legendary B-Side DJ Battle—where rising artists compete for the chance to play not one, but two stages: B-Side and Same Same But Different. To participate, DJs can submit their video and rally their crew to vote. Submissions open May 12 and close May 27. Voting lasts June 3-17, with the 3 finalists slated to perform at B-Side.

B-Side has been holding it down for the underground for a decade, and we’re honored to help celebrate that legacy. At SSBD, we’ve always believed in supporting independently produced events that are built from the heart—and that’s exactly what B-Side represents. This partnership is about uplifting the culture and showing what’s possible when communities come together.” – Brad Sweet (Co-Founder of SSBD)
