BLOND:ISH, an eco-activist, Madonna collaborator, and house producer, released her latest single, “Call My Name”. As an artist, she prides her work on creating energy the way nature intended it. With emphasis on a less linear approach. BLOND:ISH wears several hats in the industry. As a founder of Bye Bye Plastics, a foundation that aims to eliminate single use plastics in the music industry, her connection between sound and the earth is cohesive. Through this, she’s found that circular loops are useful when creating a natural progression of energy for the listener. This strategy is evidently a factor with, “Call My Name”.
With an 80’s disco feel, the single samples an early 2000’s track, “How do you know”, by Kurtis Mantronik. The vocals are mixed, chopped, and looped for a modern day twist, while still honoring the original composition. On the backend, the buildup keeps you on your toes, which drops back into the disco-esque bassline. Overall, the single is a thoughtful piece with the dulcet sound that BLOND:ISH is so praised for.
