If Atlanta needed another reason as to why it is one of the best cities in the United States for electronic dance music, Shaky Beats Music Festival is it. Curated by the same folks behind Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and the Voodoo Music & Arts Experience, the Big Peach’s welcomed addition has composed a lineup capable of making any dance music fan salivate.
More than 40 artists across 3 days are ready to rock Centennial Olympic Park when Shaky Beats sets up shop from May 20-22.
Below are 5 performances we’re especially excited to see at Atlanta’s newest EDM festival:
ZHU
The mystery producer has only played a handful of shows despite amassing millions of online streams, and this will be his first in the Southeast. An opening day set by one of dance music’s most intriguing acts is sure to ignite what is already poised to be an electric weekend.
ODESZA
Arguably the biggest names in dance music bring their innovative, immersive production back to the Dirty South. They’ve already proven the demand, selling out multiple Atlanta dates during their November stops on the In Return tour (along with nearly every other city). Be prepared to enter an alternate universe when ODESZA takes the stage on Saturday, May 21.
marshmello
Another mystery producer making an appearance at the first-year Atlanta festival, marshmello is sure to craft one of the rowdiest, most bass-heavy sets of the entire weekend. The leader of the mello gang heads east for the first time of the season, and you can sure that fellow mellos will turn out in droves. Will you be one of them?
Soulection Presents Showcase
What started as a shared passion for music has transformed into a global brand. A pioneer in discovering and delivering “the sounds of tomorrow”, Soulection serves up three artists – Joe Kay, Sango, and Esta – for smooth electronic grooves that might very well be the silkiest sounds to caress your eardrums of the entire weekend.
Big Gigantic
It wouldn’t be a music festival without laying down live instrumentals and that is exactly what the Colorado tag team plans to do. Fusing funk and hip-hop productions with raw saxophone and drum performances, Big Gigantic is sure to deliver an electric set to close out the weekend.
This doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface regarding talent that is packed throughout Shaky Beats’ 2016 lineup.
With Major Lazer, Porter Robinson, and NAS also among the names scheduled to perform, this is one music festival well worth your investment. Single day tickets are now on sale, with 3-day general admission and VIP also available.
