10 Reasons to Ride out to the Do LaB’s 2nd Woogie Weekend

Summer is here and festival season is in full swing. We are less than 3 days away from the 2nd installment of Woogie Weekend in Silverado, CA July 8-10th. If you’re not familiar with this Do LaB creation, it is like a mini version of the rapidly growing Lightning in a Bottle.

The Woogie Stage, always a Lighting in a Bottle favorite, now has it’s own festival to help you beat the summer heat!

10) The Location

If you are a southern California resident, then this is just about as good as it gets for location. Only about two hours out of the city but still has plenty of nature to embrace. Apparently it rained out here last year but this year is sure to be typical perfect SoCal weather.

9) The Size

Since this is only the 2nd year for Woogie, it will still be very intimate. Catching a festival in the beginning is always the best way to appreciate it for years to come. If you are lucky enough to catch it before it blows up, then you can have the luxury of joining the elite few who were smart enough to get in before the masses.

If you know what LIB was like when it first went public, then I’m sure there will be very similar vibes here. It is still the DoLab after all and they are known to promote sustainability, social cohesion, personal health and creative expression.

8) Water Games

If it stays dry, then there is no doubt that it will be hot. Some water activities may be the perfect antidote to beat that heat. You probably want to make sure you bring your bathing suit or just be prepared to get wet.

7) Yoga

The tradition of working Yoga into their festivals continues. It is so important to remind our bodies of the benefits of Yoga and there is no shortage of classes and teachers here for the weekend. Shawni, Gigi Snyder, Shayn and Kishan Shah are just a few teachers lined up. Don’t forget your mat.

6) 6 Deep House Heroes

There will be a night of honoring some of the techno greats with one of the most beloved sub genres. Damian Lazarus, Syd Gris, Joeski, Mark Farina, Visionquest, and Marques Wyatt are a few of those greats on the bill.

5) 5 International Legends

The DoLaB always reaches across the globe to find the best artists around. Woogie will continue on with that tradition. With Extrawelt from Germany, Minilogue from Sweden, Mathew Jonson from Canada, Jon Hopkins from London or Roman Flugel from Frankfurt you will get your dose of sounds from far and wide.

4) After Hours Line Up.

5 crews have been brought in to run the after hours nightlife. Subtract, Deep, Favela Bar, Respect and Killahurtz will be providing future sounds with some of the best house and techno.

3) Live Painting Artists

These painters add so much to the ambiance of a festival and are some of the most gifted around. It’s so awesome to watch them create paintings from scratch and see the progress they make over the course of a weekend. It adds so much to that immersive experience.

2) Camping

It is hard for some to see this as a plus, but for me this is what going to a festival is so much about. To challenge yourself and get out of your normal routine and rough it for a little bit is something you will always appreciate and remember.

1) The Lineup

There will be no lack of acts to fill this Woogie Weekend with. Oceanvs Orientalis, Oliver Huntemann, Oona Dahl, Blond:ish, FDVM, Dance Spirit, Jonas Saalbach, Claptone and the list goes on and on.
